Usually, it's best to specify a percentage width for large images, and no other dimension. This allows the image to adjust to the current display width.
However, sometimes you will have a large, tall image for which this advice doesn't work: it will make the image too tall for the display. So for these images, specify a percentage height instead (and no width). For example, a height of 75% will allow some space for text above or below the image.
