If you have navigation problems in Apple Books (iBooks) - not being able to move forward or backward, or sections going missing - Apple Books is confusing the current version of your book with the previous version.
To fix this, delete the book from Apple Books, quit Apple Books, and launch it again. Now launch your book again.
