Building a table of contents in the Jutoh manual
When you first compile your book and view it with an ebook reader, you might occasionally see two tables of contents - the one you created or imported from an existing file, and one that Jutoh generates.
The reason for this is because by default, Jutoh tries to find a table of contents to avoid generating another one. If it can't identify one - because no section in your project has a 'toc' guide type, and no section has the title 'Table of contents' - then it will generate one from the titles of the sections in your project.
To avoid this, either delete your existing table of contents, or mark it as a table of contents. To do this, right-click over the section in the project outline (or ctrl-click on Mac), click Properties, and set the Guide type field to toc.
Alternatively, consider making an advanced table of contents using the menu command Format | Book | Build Table of Contents. This will extract headings from your book content to create potentially multi-level table of contents within your project, and also a logical table of contents that can be used by Epub and Kindle viewers.
If your table of contents contains page numbers, then we recommend you delete the table of contents and let Jutoh create it, either automatically or by building an advanced TOC.
