KB0395: Why are my headings numbered twice in ODT?

If you see double-numbering in your ODT file when opening it in a word processor, it may be that there is a number in the heading text, and also added by the outline style.

This outline style, which can be edited via Project Properties/Fields & Numbering/Edit Document Outline Style, tells the word processor how to do automatic numbering. To switch off numbering, edit the outline style and set numbering style to (none) for each level.
