If you insert a caption with the menu command Format | Insert | Caption (Shift+Alt+N), you have the choice of wrapping the figure and caption in a box. On some platforms (alas, not Kindle) the box keeps the figure and caption on the same page.
However, it does complicate spacing a bit because now you have the following paragraph styles in play:
The style of the paragraph inside the box that contains the figure (such as an image or table);
the style of the paragraph inside the box that contains the caption;
the style of the paragraph outside the box, that contains the box.
Each of these paragraph styles can have before and after-paragraph spacing. So if your outer box paragraph has space after it, and the caption paragraph also has spacing after it, you're going to get more space after the entire figure-plus-caption than you anticipated.
When Jutoh inserts a caption and a box, it uses the style of the original image paragraph as the style of the box paragraph by default. This means that if an image was centred, the box will also be centred on the page. But you might well want to use a distinct paragraph style for the outer paragraph style, perhaps with different spacing.
Jutoh can automatically apply the caption's paragraph style according to how you have edited the sequence definition. You can also specify an optional box style (distinct from paragraph style), and a paragraph style for the new box, and a paragraph style to apply to the image's paragraph. So you can create some suitable paragraph styles and set them in the sequence Styles properties (or apply them manually to existing figures and captions), e.g. "Figure Container" that's centred with spacing after.
If you inserted a box but can't see it, turn on View | Text Highlighting to see grey box outlines. If you think you may have inserted several nested boxes accidentally, click on the Inspector tab and choose Boxes. Now you can click on a box in the list and see if it relates to the same location in the project. You can remove redundant boxes by right-clicking over a box and choosing Remove Box.
